3- Dual screens in 2-weeks

Looks like 3 new "dual-screen laptops" have been announced within about a 2-week period as of recent, including our own dual screen laptop, the G400. In late December Lenovo released a few details of their new "dual-screen" or what I would call a "screen and a third", that they showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The ThinkPad W700ds has a main 17-inch LCD screen, along with a 10.6-inch screen that slides out to the right from behind. The second screen can be angled in by about 30 degrees. This laptop weights in at a little over 11 pounds and is priced around $3600. I visited Lenovo website a few days ago and looks like they are not shipping product for "at least 4-weeks" they are stating that their product is the first "dual screen laptop", I suppose we need a new definition of "dual-screen laptop".

The other "dual screen laptop" is being offered is the HP branded Voodoo Firefly prototype, dubbed the “HP Firefly with Voodoo DNA,” a laptop that features a uniquely positioned multi-touch touchpad, dual displays. Just below the large 17.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display is a second 4.3-inch LCD with 800 x 480 resolution, similar to the Fujitsu N7010’s which is found above the keyboard. The secondary screen looks about the size of a business card.

Last but not least, we here at gScreen Computer released our news about the new 15.4-inch dual screen laptop, the G400, coming to market in 2009. Our first model has identical 15.4-inch, backlit displays and weighs about 7.7 lbs. When you slide the screens out, your looking at over 28-inches of screen width from edge-to-edge for all of your viewing pleasure.

So, this is the latest 3 "new" dual screen laptops to be announced as coming to maket, a few others in the past are:

1. Pennsylvania-based Estari developed a patented dual-screen computer originally for the U.S. military and is now selling its wares to the public. 2- touchscreens, no keyboard.

2. Asustek Computer has a laptop with a small second screen on the cover:

3. Intel's latest portable PC concept: the "metro notebook"

So what is a "dual screen laptop"?

I like your new laptop, it's sexy! it makes sense to have 2-screens the same size. I hope the mouse pad is bigger than usual? looks like it is.

Well, we are glad you like it like so many others. First time we have heard it called sexy, but hey, we'll take the compliment. Would you like it in PINK? We have had that color suggested? Yes, the mouse pad design is "double-wide" for your scrolling pleasure! Thanks for posting.
